Thanksgiving

29 11 2008

We had a great Thanksgiving break with our family this week. Steve was able to be at home with us and we all enjoyed time off of work. Esther came to visit for several days, and we spent some time with Steve’s family. Plenty of great food, football (Go Rebels!), and some black friday shopping. We took MP downtown to Piedmont Park and she loved it! Here are some shots from our week.

Fall travels

9 11 2008

Steve and I were so thankful to have a chance to get away, just the two of us, and travel around some of our favorite northeastern spots. We began planning our trip to attend a wedding and decided to extend it to several days and celebrate our 3rd anniversary a month early. We had a great time visiting some beautiful areas in Virginia. We couldn’t have picked a better time to go. The colors were amazing and the weather wasn’t too cold for this southern girl!  We spent a couple of nights in Georgetown, just down the road from the White House, which we also made a quick pass by. Lots of shopping, great eating (for the most part) and relaxing. Thanks to the grandparents who kept MP. We loved being able to wake up whenever we wanted. We spent the next couple of days visiting places near and dear to us. We made a stop at Steve’s 1st church in DC and actually got to tour it and talk with some of the current staff about what the church is like now. It’s in a really cool area surrounded by great residences and within walking distance to Capitol Hill. We continued on looking at some childhood memories that Steve wanted me to see, then headed to his next church in Bowie, MD. Steve still has great connections with some of the staff there and I was able to get to know some of them at our Drive Conference that we had last spring. It was great touring their building and hearing what was going on there. Sounds like the church tour I know…we loved it! Next, we drove over to Wilmington, DE and attended the wedding of some special friends of mine that I got to know while serving at their church as a summer missionary in college. Fun times and great to reconnect again. I loved getting away…hope we do it again sooner than later!
