We had a last minute change of plans yesterday and drove up to Amicalola State Park yesterday with Mary Peyton. It was the most refreshing afternoon we’ve all had in a while. We drove up to the top of the Falls and walked around, then we ventured down to the bottom, carrying our 20 pounder. Everyone was looking at us like we were crazy. People would stop us and say, “Are you planning on carrying that baby up to the top?!” (Waterfalls aren’t stroller friendly places. Mary Peyton loved her freedom from being strapped in.) Steve decided that he could carry her up the 200 stairs and hike so that we could at least see the waterfall from midpoint. He did a great job with her. She’s not as light as she used to be. We were so hungry by the end of our time that we drove up to the Lodge on the grounds of the state park and had dinner. MP did beautifully and we were so thankful. New surroundings make for great distractions for 9 month olds! Wish we had pictures, but we left on a whim. It was definitely a memory made.
Giggles and curls?
14 07 2008I took some pictures of MP today as she was half crawling half walking all over the place. Her personality is so fun. She sings and giggles at herself all the time. It’s hard to believe she is 9 months next week! This time has been some of the most precious and rewarding to watch her learn new things daily. She definitely has her daddy wrapped around her finger already! Looks like he is going to be in for it. We’ve been trying to decide if her hair is going to be curly. I pulled her out of her car seat this afternoon and her hair was a little sweaty and I know I saw curls. I’m sure of it. We’ll find out soon enough…Steve called me at work last week to tell me MP had figured out how to climb the stairs. She loves it. Next comes the part of teaching her how to get back down. I’m not sure that will be as easy.

July 4th weekend
7 07 2008We just opened our home this weekend to some of our most precious friends. Of course, there were so many more who I wish could have been a part. Every year since we graduated from MC, we’ve said we would try to get together at Labor Day. This year, it worked out for us to all gather July 4th. So, Steve, MP, and I hosted 17 guests for 3 nights. It was SO fun. In fact, today I actually missed seeing all the cars in the driveway and air mattress all over the house. The weekend was just a reminder to me of God’s faithfulness in our lives and of the precious lasting friendships I made at MC. It was also a reminder of His love and how He can love us so well through people that He purposefully places in our lives. Can’t wait until next year!
